Our Future Location

We will place our farm on one of the Federal Opportunity Zones that exist in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.  It is our goal to acquire the 30 acrea site pointed at in the picture to the left, demolish the existing steel structure and erect an anchor building attached to 6 acres of greenhouses to raise varieties of leafy greens, strawberries and tomatoes.  It is our goal to leverage the use of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technologies to provide growing data to our clients to for go future agriculture recalls and build consumer confidence.

Why we are and Why we are going there

Why are we going to open?

The management of this business is filling a regional need as its described in the People’s

Gas Food 21 report.  This report discusses the current Pittsburgh region’s dependency on outside food growers because only 2% of the region’s food is raises nearby.  The report can be viewed by clicking here. The report’s authors propose that their be established aquaponic farms to allow the region to spur economic growth and a reliable food growing system.  It is for that purpose that we exist!

Why are we going to open in McKeesport?

The management team selected the RIDC McKeesport Industrial Park as our desired location because of the following reasons:

  • Very favorable greenhouse location with no surrounding trees
  • Financial incentives available from federal and state programs
  • Close proximity to an available workforce
  • Supportive local elective officials
  • Close proximity to IT incubators like Alpha Lab, Alpha Lab Gear and Ascender
  • An ever improving business environment in McKeesport
  • Support from the Allegheny Penn State and the CCAC South campuses
  • Our desire to assist with the McKeesport comeback story!

What growing system will we use

We have desided to use the Nelson and Pade, Inc.®  growing system for various reasons:

  1. Nelson and Pade, Inc.®’s Clear Flow Aquaponic Systems® are designed based on scientific research and 20+ years of development, refinement and operation. Clear Flow Aquaponic Systems® produce higher quality fish and vegetables with increased production over other systems.
  2. They sell Aquaponic systems, training and support to individuals, entrepreneurs, governments and schools who want food security, food quality and a positive return on their investment.
  3. Their systems use 1/6 of the water to sustainably grow 8 times more food per acre, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers, year ‘round, in any climate.
  4. They have an Aquaponics Project Planning service that we plan to use to give us the greatest chance of success.
  5. With Nelson and Pade experience in aquaponics is not required! That’s because they provide comprehensive training, detailed manuals, standard operating procedures and long-term grower support.
  6. .Nelson and Pade, Inc.® offers an Aquaponics Success Package to all customers who purchase their Clear Flow Aquaponic Systems®.  The Aquaponics Success Package consists of the three most important services they offer to a new grower. Their Clear Flow Aquaponic Systems® will give us a proven system design that maximizes crop production in an efficient and sustainable way. The Aquaponics Success Package will provide us with the training, technical support and guidance we will need to be successful long term.

Unlike traditional agriculture, we use 1/6 of the water to sustainably grow 8 times more food per acre, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers, year ‘round, in any climate.
